Look at your surprised face! Yes, yesterday’s outing was the Idyll Hounds Brewing Company near Santa Rosa. The brewery provided a much needed selection of porters and stouts. They also had a fine assortment of sours if that happens to be your thing. My favorite was the Paranormal Searcher which incorporated Oreo cookies. Not too sweet. Not too chocolatey. Oh my goodness it was good.
From there we headed to The Perfect Pig – Seagrove Beach. I had a pulled pork sandwich with caramelized onions and cheese. Tom enjoyed grouper in the most amazing cucumber, avocado, and feta sauce. I am definitely going to need to try to repeat that. We were hungry, so here’s the photo we remembered to take.
Word came a couple of days ago that we have upgraded seats on the way back to DFW, so that’s a final bonus for running away. And we’ve continued to travel plan for spring, but are still undecided on four weeks or six. What also cropped up, though, is a fall trip around the world that we expect to last a couple of months. We’ve set aside years of American Express business points for that one.
Tom would happily live out of a suitcase forever, but I’m kind of looking forward to establishing a home base again. Also, (and this came as a surprise) we started talking a bit about what it might look like if we both went back to work. After a year and a half of retirement, and at the backside of what proved to be a very inconvenient pandemic, we’re starting to wonder if we moved to this rambling lifestyle a little too quickly. The money is holding out just fine, but we’re both rather bored.
A new grandbaby in a few weeks might be a spark, though. I plan to cook for both families for a few weeks. Until then, it’s another Miramar Beach sunset and whatever sportsball might be found on an iPad because the television service in this rental isn’t much.
